Privacy Policy

Kuribayashi Sogo Law Office (hereinafter referred as “KSLO”), has established the following privacy policy for the treatment of personal information within KSLO, will comply with this policy as well as the Act on the Protection of Personal Information of Japan (hereinafter referred to as the “Personal Information Protection Act”) and other related legislation.

1. Acquisition of Personal Information

KSLO shall lawfully and properly acquire personal information to the extent necessary to achieve the purpose of use of such personal information.

2. Purpose of Use of Personal Information

KSLO will use the personal information for the following purposes. Except where permitted under the Personal Information Protection Act or any other relevant law or regulation, KSLO will not use an individual’s personal information for any purpose outside of those listed below, without that individual’s prior consent.

• i.performance of KSLO's legal services;
• ii.provision of information relating to KSLO’s legal services;
• iii.communication of KSLO courtesy announcements, invitations to seminars, newsletters and other similar notices;
• iv.responding to various inquiries;
• v.recruitment, selection and recruitment-related communication, and human resource management after recruitment;
• vi.any other purposes incidental to the above purposes; and
• vii.any other purposes necessary for the appropriate and smooth performance of law firm business.

3. Management of Personal Information

KSLO will take all measures that are necessary and appropriate to prevent disclosure, loss, impairment and any other mistreatment of personal information. In order to ensure the safe management of personal information, KSLO will supervise its attorneys and staff as necessary and appropriate. When outsourcing the handling of personal information, all or in part, KSLO will supervise all outsourced service providers as necessary and appropriate.

4. Provision of Personal Information to Third Parties

KSLO will not provide personal information to any third parties without the prior consent of the principal identified by the relevant personal information or unless authorized or approved by law or ordinances.

5. Request for Notification of Purposes of Use, Disclosure, Correction, Discontinuation of Use or other Treatment of Personal Information

If KSLO receive from an individual whose personal information KSLO hold a request to disclose that information, to amend, supplement or delete that information, to temporarily suspend or permanently cease the use of that information, to cease providing that information to a third party, or to inform that individual of the purpose of use of that information, then KSLO will promptly respond to that request in good faith in accordance with the Personal Information Protection Act, after first confirming that the request is from the individual to whom the information relates.
Please note that KSLO may not be able to respond to your request if it does not meet the requirements of the Personal Information Protection Act or if KSLO are authorized by that law or other related legislations to refuse your request for disclosure or otherwise.
KSLO also ask for your understanding if we charge a handling fee with respect to any request regarding the purpose of use of or disclosure of the personal information held by the KSLO.
