Topics

Fundamentals of Understanding English Agreements

The purpose of this seminar is to provide participants with a proper understanding of the basic grammar and English vocabulary used in English agreements. Although it may seem too basic for those in charge of legal departments who are familiar with English agreements, a proper review of grammar and vocabulary may bring new insights. The seminar is also designed to be easy to understand for beginners who have little or no experience with English agreements.

The seminar will include the following topics

  1. The five sentence patterns as grammatical structures (subject, verb, object, etc.)
  2. Parallelism using commas
  3. Use of commas, colons, and semicolons
  4. Word usage unique to agreements
  • -neither
  • -either and any
  • -unless
  • -provided, however, that
  • -notwithstanding
  • -regardless

English agreements are sometimes too difficult to understand and make sense. By understanding the grammatical structure properly, you can acquire the knack of reading difficult texts.

Many people use translation software in their workplaces. However, translation software does not provide a correct translation with an accurate understanding of the grammar of English agreements. It is necessary to use human power to accurately express the scope that is beyond the reach of translation software.

This seminar is open to everyone, so please register if you are interested in learning more about drafting agreements in English.
